Sam Fein, Director of Finance
Samuel I. Fein is serving his first term in the Albany County Legislature, representing the residents of the 6th Legislative District. The district is located completely within the City of Albany, and comprises parts of the South End, Delaware Area, Ten Broeck Triangle, and the entire Mansion Neighborhood, Pastures Historic District, and the Downtown business district. Sam earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2012 from Union College. After graduating, he worked on several congressional campaigns before being hired to work in the New York State Assembly. He decided to run for office in 2015 because he wanted to make a positive influence in his community – a community in which his family has a long history. Sam’s ancestors settled in Albany shortly after immigrating to the United States from Eastern Europe in the early 20th Century. His great-grandfather grew up on Delaware Ave and his family owned businesses in the 6th District, including Breslaw Brother’s Furniture, Swire Appliance, and the Mill End Shops. Sam is very engaged with his community, and is actively involved in many neighborhood associations and community organizations. During his term in office, Sam’s focus includes issues relating to youth services, vacant buildings, expanding job opportunities, and economic development – issues that residents of his district have expressed are important. Being accessible to his constituents is very important to Sam. Being engaged in his community is one of the ways that he keeps his constituents informed on what their county government is doing and learns from his constituents about issues that are important to them.
